Emco is proud to announce our new supervac hydro-excavator. With it we can clean heavy-debris pits, locate buried lines, do slot trenching potholing/daylighting, piling hole excavation and remote excavation. What does that all mean?
Hydro excavation is the process of using pressurized water and an industrial strength vacuum to move or remove soil. The high-pressure (5,700 CFM) water system we utilize in our hydro-excavation process allows us to break up soil in a controlled, safe and non-destructive manner. After the ground has been pressure treated with water, the soil and water slurry is transferred to a debris tank via air conveyance (vacuum).
Emco now utilizes state-of-the-art hydro-excavation equipment and technology to provide safe and efficient hydro-excavation services for all of our oilfield customers. In addition to the construction of underground facilities, there are many uses for hydro-excavation, including:
Potholing – Excavation of a test hole in order to affirm the specific depth, type or dimensions of a known underground utility or facility
Daylighting – Exposing underground pipes and utility lines to daylight for assessment, repair or replacement without the danger of damaging expensive materials. Traditionally, these tasks were completed by hand using a shovel or backhoe, but hydro-excavation is a much safer option.
Slot trenching – Digging shallow trenches so that pipes, cables and utility lines may be installed in the ground even when the soil is hard or frozen and to avoid damaging any unknown underground structures.
Piling hole excavation – Without hydro-excavation, the necessary installation holes for a structure’s poles, signs and posts would have to be dug by hand or backhoe, both of which are costly and time consuming. Hydro-excavation is precise, cost-effective, and non-destructive to surrounding soil.
Remote excavation – Because it is challenging to transport traditional digging machinery to remote or crowded locations, digging by hand used to be the fall-back option. Manual digging takes a lot more time and will have high labor costs. The solution is hydro-excavation; our supervac can park a safe distance away from the actual dig site.
